Stevenage v Northampton preview

Image: Holroyd: Set to return for Stevenage

Team news ahead of Saturday's League Two clash between Stevenage and at Northampton at Broadhall Way.

Stevenage's leading scorer Chris Holroyd will return to the squad. Striker Holroyd, who has six goals to his name so far this season, was ineligible for Boro's last match - the 2-0 FA Cup win over AFC Wimbledon on November 27 - due to the terms of his loan from Brighton. On-loan Watford midfielder Josh Walker made his debut in the victory over the Dons and after getting on the scoresheet should retain his place. Injury-prone striker Ben May could return after being rested for the cup game and midfielder David Bridges will be pushing for a start after being dropped to the bench in the last match. Lee Boylan (calf) and Darren Murphy (ankle) remain absent and are not expected to be back before the New Year. Northampton manager Ian Sampson is set to name an unchanged side. The Cobblers returned to winning ways last weekend with a 2-0 victory over Stockport and Sampson could name the same XI. He said: "We've got one or two niggles but nothing too serious. "We haven't picked up any injuries in the week so hopefully I should have the same squad to pick from as I did last Saturday." Captain Andy Holt came off at half-time last week but should be fit to start - although his replacement Michael Jacobs did score against the Hatters. Kevin Thornton will be looking to keep his place in midfield after scoring last week while striker Tadhg Purcell remains the only injury absentee and he will not feature again this season as he nurses a knee ligament injury.
