Stoke ensure that they will be playing European football after Christmas thanks to Jones' goal which secured the point Stoke needed to advance from Group E. Begovic made a superb late save to deny Yarmolenko and the Potters maintain their unbeaten home form in the competition after a riveting second half performance. Stoke look to play keep ball, as Whitehead holds it up on the left and does well to win a goal kick. One minute remains and Stoke's passage to the knockout round should be secured.
Stoke continue to press but it's at a slower rate knowing they have the point they need, with Higginbotham now fouled on the left by Silva.
It was frustration for much of the night for Pennant but he comes off a hero as Whitehead takes the field for the final few minutes.

Jerome has literally covered every blade of grass in Kiev's half during the second half, and he nearly whips a cross to Walters but Kacheridi is there to head away.

Ideye hussles Shotton but the right back does excellently to find Fuller, who is hacked down by Kacheridi, which earns him a belated yellow card.
Pennant's cross this time is an absolute peach and Jones is in a perfect position, amid bad marking from Aliya, and the striker heads it in from close range. That equaliser has finally come!
Pennant does well to beat Kacheridi and his cross into Jones is good but the striker cannot direct any pace on his header and it's comfortable for Shovkovskiy.
Kiev look to break after a quick free kick, but Aliev's cross is cleared by Huth and Pennant looks to counter in turn.
Shotton launches a good throw into the box, but a high boot from Huth on Yussuf earns him a yellow card, and ends the attack in it's tracks.
Kacheridi clears a teasing cross from Delap on the left, as Kiev look to retain possession in a period that has been well and truly contolled by the Potters.

Jerome is everywhere at the moment, and he holds up play well, but should play in Higgnbotham on the left, before Vukojevic is given time to step in and clear.
Jerome hussles and does well to win a throw off Kacheridi, with the Kiev manager furious at the referee's decision. It was the correct one though.
Higginbotham slides in brilliantly to prevent Yarmolenko breaking down the right, but Stoke eventually give the ball away after a loose pass from Pennant.
Pennant had gone down in that flurry, but as play draws to a halt, it looks like he will be fine to continue.
Another good chance for Stoke falls to Diao, after Kacheridi's header landed nicely in the path of the midfielder, but his effort is high over the bar on the half volley.
Jerome thought he had won a corner, but he has been too physical all night and a foul on Betao results in a Kiev goal kick.

Huth knocks off Ideye in the area and concedes a throw as Kiev look to regain some momentum in the final third, with Aliev having a drive which skims across goal.
That's the first time Kiev have been under the kosh all game so it will be interesting to see how they react, as Shevchenko moves the ball forward into Stoke's half.

Pennant takes, but it's cleared away by Vukojevic as Stoke take the attacking impetus with the home fans backing them to create the loudest atmosphere of the night.
Jones heads a Shotton free-kick into the area, which eventually falls to Palacios, whose touch is poor but he still gets a shot away and earns a corner.
The pace has yet to reach the heights of the first half, but Kiev still look strong as Yussuf searches for Shevchenko, but the ball runs on to Begovic.

Jerome tangles with Khacheridi again, and the Kiev man again goes down but it looks justified this time as Jerome does catch him on the byline.
Kiev have settled brilliantly as Stoke look weary and rattled at the break. Aliev's strike will be most likely go down as an Upson own goal, but Kiev have bossed the opening period and it will take a much improved Stoke to come out in the second half and earn the point they need to qualify for the knockout stages. Kiev work the ball around Stoke beautifully, with Shevchenko reaching the byline, before Betao firest a rocket into Aliev's lower regions. Looked very, very painful.
Stoke fans are furious after Jones was ushered rather forcefully off the ball by Yussuf, with no foul being given. Begovic then makes a hash of Upson's backpass and it's a corner.
Another long throw from Delap is cleared, as Salif Diao hacks down Yarmolenko and thwarts another counter attack from the visitors.
Pennant looks like Stoke's best outlet right now as he links up play with Palacios, but Yussuf thumps it away. Stoke have yet to have a shot on target as things stand.

Stoke's tactics just aren't working at the moment, as they labour to get up ahead of steam, with no-one making any forward runs, leaving Higginbotham stranded.
Jerome clashes with Khadcheridi, and the Ukrainian gets ticked off by the referee for squaring up to the Stoke striker.
Kiev's movement is good as they switch play, with Shevchenko the architect, before Higginbotham steps in to win back possession for Stoke.
Stoke switch off as Ideye looks to worm his way past Upson, but the centre back shows good strength to hold his ground and usher the ball out for a goal kick.
Betao is the man who heads away, but Shotton delivers it back in, with Shovkovskiy confidently claiming.
Kiev look really strong in defence as they calmly head the ball back to Shovkovskiy, and Stoke will have some work to do if they are to break down the resilient visitors tonight.
Stoke win another throw, which sends Huth and Upson up, despite it being Shotton who launches it in, with Upson heading wide from the resulting ball in.
Pennant whips a good ball into the back post but Jerome is judged offside as he leaps above Khacheridi to win the header.
Kiev have looked dangerous on the break and they finally make Stoke pay, as Silva holds off Jones on the right, with Kiev playing the ball back to Shovkovskiy.
Kiev break again, and after being played in by Shevchenko, Aliev strikes as the Stoke defence remain static and a large deflection takes it past Begovic! 1-0 to Kiev.
After linking up with Aliev, Ideye attempts a curler from 25 yards which sails horribly over, with Shevchenko livid that he was ignored on the left.
Delap fires another throw into the box but Kiev clear and break effectively as Yarmolenko storms down the left, with only a good tackle from Upson breaking up the move.
Yarmolenko gets in behind Shotton but his cross into the six-yard box is cleared by Huth before Begovic claims the winger's ball back into the penalty area.
Shotton slides in magnificently on Gusev, to the applause of the Stoke faithful as he also plays it away afterwards.
Stoke are pressing vigilantly, but Kiev's passing is very threatening, as a poor pass from Ideye goes out of play. Up until then, they had worked the ball brilliantly up the field.
Some more comical scenes occur as Ideye Brown seeks to charge past Higginbotham but ends up clashing with the linesman. Smiles all around.

Stoke fans weren't happy at that decision but Jones looked to have gone down rather easily as the boos ring around the Britannia.

Andriy Yarmolenko runs inside of Higginbotham and fires low at Asmir Begovic, with the bounce nearly catching the keeper off guard but he does well.
Danny Higginbotham earns a corner from the throw-on, which Jermaine Pennant takes, but a foul is given in Dynamo Kiev's favour against Jones.
Wilson Palacios gets the ball down well, and looks to playing in Delap, who is occupying the left wing tonight, winning a throw in the process.
Rory Delap's first long throw of the day finds Kenwyne Jones at the near post, but the striker can only help it into the path of Olesksandr Shovkovskiy.
