Stoke win a throw in 35 yards on the right. Shotton puts it into the box but it runs through harmlessly for Guaita to gather.
Delap catches Piatti for a Valencia free-kick just inside the Stoke half on the right. Costa takes but Pennant clears.
Valencia take the free-kick 40 yards on the left and Piatti wins another 35 yards out in the centre.
Whitehead is now booked for telling Costa what he thought of him for his late challenge, while Costa is also booked for dissent.
Walters is booked for catching Costa late. Costa had earlier just caught Whitehead but he was not booked.
Etherington is now booked after catching Miguel with a late challange as he is upset with the earlier challenge.

Etherington takes the corner but it is just too high for Shawcross in the centre and goes out for a goal kick.
Pennant crosses from 20 yard son the right, Crouch heads in the centre and Topal has to put it out for a corner on the left.

Jonas eventually gets to his feet and will be okay to continue. The Valenica keeper punts the free-kick forward and Stoke clear.
Stoke come again and Etherington crosses from the right byline before Palacios fouls Jonas for a Valencia free-kick just outside their box. He is down needing treatment on the pitch.
Walters latches onto a poor back header by Dealbert and runs into the right side of the box before shooting from 15 yards but his effort goes wide of the far post.

Charlie says: "I'm almost certain that Stoke will struggle tonight against Valencia. Stoke will be sure to give their best shot, but I think the Spanish outfit will win 4-1, Andy Wilkinson being sent off and Jonas opening the scoring. I think Valencia will play Stoke off the park tonight and win convincingly." I disagree, Soldado their top-scorer is on the bench, I think the Potters will prevail here, although it will be tight. We shall see!
