Gomez faces late fitness test; defensive worries for O'Driscoll

In-form Doncaster Rovers travel to Swansea City in what promises to be an aesthetically pleasing Championship encounter. Midfielder Jordi Gomez faces a race against time to be fit when Swansea host Doncaster at the Liberty Stadium. The Spanish striker sustained a hamstring injury in the 2-0 midweek defeat at Watford - a result which ended Roberto Martinez's side's impressive 16-game unbeaten run. Gomez will now be given a late fitness test along with fellow midfielder Owain Tudur-Jones, who is suffering from a back injury and is unlikely to be risked. Striker Gorka Pintado is not expected back for another couple of weeks following a double hernia operation but Angel Rangel should be recalled to the starting XI having been rested at Vicarage Road. Darren Pratley, Ferrie Bodde and Marcos Painter remain long-term absentees for Swansea.

Doncaster team news

Doncaster manager Sean O'Driscoll could be facing a defensive crisis with two of his centre-backs struggling to be fit. Sam Hird is a doubt with a tight hamstring while Matt Mills is still plagued by a groin injury which has made him doubtful for the last couple of games, although he has been able to start despite the problem. Both are facing late fitness tests ahead of the trip to South Wales, with Adam Lockwood likely to step in should either be forced to sit out. O'Driscoll will be loath to make unforced changes to his starting line-up after seeing his side continue their sparkling run of recent form with a 1-0 win over Bristol City. But there will definitely be a change on the bench for the Liberty Stadium clash as Lewis Guy - an unused substitute against the Robins - has moved to Hartlepool on a month's loan.
