Lennon played it through and finally Jermaine Defoe has his goal - a beautiful clip over the advancing goalkeeper
Dempsey goes off, having given Spurs the lead - although it may go down as an own goal - to be replaced by Sigurdsson
Great ball in by Spyropoulos almost reaches Toche but just cut out... Spurs need to wake up here... Dembele about to come on for Carroll
but the possession has switched since the goal - pananthinaikos much more in it.. and remember, just one more Greek goal would eliminate Spurs
He's been brought on to add to the attacking threat - pacy winger.. just hope I don't have to type his name that often!!
Carroll commits the foul on Spyropoulos... another chance for a ball in.. shot from outside the area by Sissoko - over the bar
Sissoko is in trouble again - needing treatment off the field.. they're down to 10 men at the moment, can spurs capitalise?
Now we DO have a game on... it was a great header from Zeca, who missed a half chance a moment before
Defoe hits the post after he was set up by Dempsey - you'd have put your house on Defoe there - not been his night so far
a scramble almost sees Spurs double their lead in the opening seconds, but Defore can't quite get his foot to it
Caulker takes over the corner responsibiliies from Carroll - Vertonghen's header is poked behind for a second... that one is taken by the Keeper
Game drifting towards the break... you'd like to think the Greeks will come out a bit in the second half to make it more of a spectacle... but here's Adebayor in the area - blocked for a corner
great long ball by Adebayor into the box for Defoe but its out for a corner... Carroll gets the ball in at the second attempt, its headed straight to dempsey who handballs it.
Having broken the deadlock, Adebayor is 4/1 with Sky Bet to score the second goal of the game as well, with Jermain Defoe the same price. Dempsey has looked eager, though, with his odds of 5/1 looking good value.
The Greeks get in on the highest shot competition from the last 5 minutes - this time its Sow who blasts over. Meanwhile Lazio have scored again - 2-0 should clinch the group for them
Tottenham enjoying so much space on the edge of the box - this time Sandro's shot ends up in the crowd
Tottenham break after an attack by Panathinaikos, but some good interplay between Defoe and Adebayor is ruined as Dempsey fires miles over the bar - luckily he was flagged offside!
It was a great through ball from Clint Dempsey - perfectly timed for Adebayor, who simply slotted it home right-footed
Another break from the Greeks but they don't commit enough players to the attack - no support for the onrushing Mavrias
Chance for Panathinakos to put the ball in - really good ball and its a huge chance for Toche who doesnt get hold of it - Friedel claims it easily
Vertonghen pulls back Sissoko in midfield - could've been a booking but the referee says no - Sissoko was asking for it - I hate that, should be an instant yellow card for me.
Kyle Walker takes it, but it threatens the knees of the wall rather than anything else - poor free kick
Sissoko gives it away to Dempsey on the edge of the box, and he's fouled - its around 23 yards out, just left of centre
Panathinaikos's tactics are obvious - trying to counter attack - could be tough for Spurs to break them down,... but the Greeks do need a win
Pape Sow is down after a coming together with Carroll which has held up play for a minute or so - both players still struggling but play has restarted
another Greek attack broken down by Spurs, nothing serious just a couple of 'sighter' rosses into the box - only Toche in there though
Spurs passing it around well, having a lot of posession as expected.. but will the cutting edge be blunted with no Bale??
Fancy a bet??? Sky Bet have a handful of price boosts ahead of kick-off, with Tottenham to win 2-1 now 9/1. You can back Emmanuel Adebayor to open the scoring at 7/1, while a Jermain Defoe first scorer double chance scorecast with Tottenham to win either 1-0 or 2-0 is a popular bet with punters ahead of kick-off
Bunny - Lets hope spurs win tonight to show all them other teams to be worried about us big shout to the the harlow boys
I'm Rebecca Stephenson and I'll be taking you through the 90 minutes as Spurs try to secure their place in the next stage
