Tranmere v Shrewsbury preview

Team news for Saturday's League One clash between Tranmere Rovers and Shrewsbury Town at Prenton Park.

Tranmere will once again assess midfield duo Jason Koumas and Steve Jennings prior to kick-off against Shrewsbury. Koumas has been receiving injections in a toe injury to play on through the pain while Jennings' knee problem has hampered him in recent weeks. Caretaker manager John McMahon will run the rule over the pair again at the last possible moment. Rovers, who this week sacked manager Ronnie Moore after he admitted a Football Association charge for breaching betting regulations, could also be without midfielder Jake Kirby as he has also sustained a toe injury. Captain James Wallace (groin) is likely to miss out again while Abdulai Baggie (knee) may not play again this term. Shrewsbury will be without suspended pair Joseph Mills and Asa Hall when they take on relegation rivals Tranmere. On-loan Burnley defender Mills is in the middle of a three-match ban for his straight red card against Walsall, while midfielder Asa Hall serves a one-game suspension after his dismissal in the 1-0 win over Stevenage. Goalkeeper Chris Weale was recalled last weekend after 10 games on the bench and he is likely to retain his place ahead of Joe Anyon. Jermaine Grandison (hamstring), Dave McAllister (ankle) and Luke Summerfield (thigh) are closing in on their comebacks but are expected to miss the Rovers clash.
