Tranmere v Swansea preview

Image: Goodison: Ankle problem

Tranmere defender Ian Goodison is a major doubt, while Swansea will be without Angel Rangel.

Goodison concern for Rovers; Rangel blow for Swans

Tranmere defender Ian Goodison is a major doubt for Tuesday's Carling Cup second-round tie at home to Swansea. The veteran Jamaica international sustained an ankle injury during Saturday's 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Bournemouth and will be assessed closer to kick-off. Centre-back Marlon Broomes and utility player Ash Taylor are definitely missing through injury and boss Les Parry must decide whether to include Ian Thomas-Moore. The striker has had a transfer request turned down and showed his frustration at being substituted on Saturday by kicking the wall of the players' tunnel. Thomas-Moore is keen to join his father Ronnie at Rotherham and Parry said: "I just want it resolved one way or another and don't want it hanging over us any longer."

Swansea news

Swansea will be without defender Angel Rangel for their Carling Cup second-round tie at Prenton Park. The full-back missed the 2-0 defeat at Norwich on Saturday after suffering a thigh injury in training and the club have now revealed he will be out for around four to six weeks. Striker Craig Beattie and midfielder Tom Butler will miss the clash as they are around two weeks away from contention with calf and thigh injuries respectively. Butler's fellow midfielder Ferrie Bodde (knee) and striker Gorka Pintado (shoulder) are long-term casualties - with the former not expected back until February. However, winger Nathan Dyer suffered no ill-effects of a leg injury after he played 65 minutes at Carrow Road and will be fine to remain in the starting line-up.
