Valenciennes were spared an eighth defeat in nine Ligue 1 matches as they drew 1-1 with Reims on Saturday.

Valenciennes were spared an eighth defeat in nine Ligue 1 matches as Eloge Enza Yamissi's stoppage-time strike earned a 1-1 draw with Reims at Stade du Hainaut. The league's bottom side were on course to draw yet another blank when Prince Oniangue fired the visitors in front after half an hour, but Enza Yamissi's last-gasp leveller earned them a deserved share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw after seeing Reims goalkeeper Kossi Agassa put on an inspired display. Valenciennes began the season with a 3-0 defeat of Toulouse, but a run of seven straight defeats left confidence at a low ebb and coach Daniel Sanchez will be a relieved man to finally stop the rot. Mid-table Reims drew with league leaders Monaco last weekend to serve a reminder of their quality, but it was the hosts who threatened first when Mathieu Dossevi drew a smart low save from Kossi Agassa. Reims were soon looking menacing and on 21 minutes Oniangue crossed for Nicolas de Preville, but his attempt at the far post was kept out by Nicolas Penneteau. VA were undone on the half-hour, however, as Floyd Ayite's corner from the left fell perfectly for Oniangue who crashed home a header. The home side sought and immediate response and almost got it 60 seconds later when Opa Nguette's vicious drive was clawed out by Agassa, while five minutes before the break the Reims goalkeeper also denied Jean-Christophe Bahebeck's right-footed strike. VA continued to press after the restart and Agassa again had to be alert to fingertip a Dossevi effort away following a corner, and pulled off the same trick to keep out an Anthony Le Tallec header four minutes later. Le Tallec was denied again with six minutes left when the overworked Agassa reacted well to keep out his low drive, but with the clock ticking down the Reims backline was finally breached as Dossevi crossed low into the box and Enzi Yamissi cut his shot in from a close range.
