Play-off six-pointer for Saddlers and Rovers

Walsall manager Richard Money has concerns over the fitness of several players ahead of the visit of play-off rivals Tranmere. Money's men are without a win in six league games and desperately need to end their bleak run after slipping five points off the play-off places. Tranmere have crept into the top six after winning three of the last four league games and Ronnie Moore will be hoping his men can cement their position with a win in the West Midlands. Midfielders Darren Wrack and Edrissa Sonko and on loan forward Kevin Betsy all missed the 1-0 defeat at Southend with a bout of flu. However, the trio could return to contention after featuring for the reserves in midweek. Aaron Brown, who joined on loan from Reading last week, could be in line for his first-team debut but the defender is most likely to start the game on the bench. Knee injuries have kept Michael Dobson and Ishmel Demontagnac out recently and they are doubts again, although they may be fit for the trip to Cheltenham next weekend.

Rovers news

Tranmere winger Chris Shuker is expected to be passed fit. The former Barnsley wideman has missed the last two games after suffering a reaction to his comeback from knee surgery, but Rovers are hopeful that Shuker will be available to face the Saddlers. Fellow wide man Steve Davies remains sidelined but he could end a six-month lay off by returning to competitive action next week. The 20-year-old winger, who is recovering from cruciate ligament surgery, could play for the reserves against Carlisle at Prenton Park next Wednesday. Moore named an unchanged side for last week's win over Swindon and has no other new concerns as his men look to enhance their play-off bid.
