Image: McGinn: Set to miss cup clash

Team news ahead of Saturday's Capital One Cup first-round clash between Watford and Wycombe at Vicarage Road.

Watford boss Gianfranco Zola could be without three players as he prepares for his first competitive game in charge. The Italian is unlikely to be able to call on the services of midfielder Stephen McGinn, defender Fitz Hall and loan striker Steve Leo Beleck. McGinn is still struggling with a long-term knee problem while Hall (calf) and Leo Beleck (knee) will have to wait for their competitive Hornets debuts. Former Arsenal goalkeeper Manuel Almunia should make his first official bow at Vicarage Road after joining in the summer. New striker Alex Geijo is unlikely to feature as he builds up his fitness along with the remaining new loanees at the club. Wycombe will wait to see if Dennis Oli is fit. A knee injury forced Oli off at half-time in Tuesday's pre-season friendly defeat to Brentford and Wanderers are monitoring the forward ahead of the first-round tie. Leon Johnson resumed training on Monday following a groin problem and could be included in the squad, but fellow defenders Danny Foster (knee) and Dave Winfield (calf) are still nursing injuries. Striker Matt McClure will also miss out due to tendonitis of the knee. Wycombe were beaten 4-1 by Brentford in their final warm-up match and manager Gary Waddock has warned his players that performance has cost some of them a place in the side on Saturday. "We made it quite clear in the dressing room we won't accept that type of performance in the league and cup fixtures," Waddock said. "Possibly in the players' defence they had half an eye on the Watford game but in saying that a few of the players have played themselves out of the team for Saturday."
