Wigan v Blackburn preview

Wigan are hoping to put their recent bad form behind them against European-chasing Blackburn.

Latics hoping for a change in fortune against Rovers

Wigan are hoping to put their recent bad form behind them as they welcome European-chasing Blackburn to the JJB Stadium. The Latics are currently nineteenth in the Premier League, with only two wins and nine points all season. Both of those victories did come at home, but if they are to start climbing away from trouble then they need to rectify their problems in front of goal, which have seen them score just six goals at the JJB so far. Steve Bruce's side are also currently in the middle of a sequence of results which has seen them go 13 games without a league win, a run which dates back to their 3-0 victory over Sunderland in August. Blackburn may have only won one of their last six games, and failed to score in four of those, but they still sit ninth in the Premier League and are just four points behind Liverpool in fourth. Mark Hughes' side have lost only once on the road so far, and that was against Manchester United, and also boast a record of seven victories from their eight encounters with Wigan.

Wigan team news

Steve Bruce is set to recall Julius Agahowa to the first-team squad for the first time since October, as the Nigerian striker has now fully recovered from a toe infection. Antoine Sibierski is still a doubt with a thigh injury, but Emile Heskey has shaken off a minor knock and Titus Bramble has recovered from illness, and both should be fit enough to play.
Blackburn team news
Rovers will welcome back David Bentley from the one-game suspension which kept him out of last week's 1-0 defeat to West Ham, whilst Ryan Nelson is also back after a recent ban. However, Mark Hughes will be without Andre Ooijer, as the Dutch defender pulled a hamstring in the game with the Hammers and will be out until the New Year.
