Sammon wins a header and McArthur spots Friedel off his line and tries a volley from 40 yards out but the effort lacks power and the Spurs keeper easily saves.
A-E is dis-possessed near the halfway line and McArthur runs into the right side of the box before passing to Stam to his right but his pass is misplaced and goes out for a goal kick. Great chance squandered.
Spurs take the corner on the right but Kaboul heads wide from 15 yards in the centre with a downward header.
Modric takes the free-kick short to Parker who stops the ball before Kaboul shoots at goal but his effort takes a deflection of Figueroa before hitting the crossbar and going over for a corner. Unlucky!
Spurs take the free-kick short but Diame tackles Bale and McCarthy then tries to release Sammon into the left side of the box with a long ball but Friedel is quickly off his line and gathers.
Walker goes down injured after being caught by Diame and it is a Spurs free-kick 30 yards out on the right.

SENT OFF GOHOURI. Bale runs down the left flank and gets past Gohouri who catches him with a late tackle and the ref has no option to send the Wigan defender off for a second bookable offence.
Figueroa tries to release McCarthy into the left side of the box but his pass is over hit goes out for a goal kick.
Sandro has to put the ball out for a throw in near the halfway line on the right. Adebayor goes down again and has to go off with an injury to his left eye he must have sustained in the challenge with Figueroa.
Adebayor latches onto a pass on the edge of the box and is lining up a shot but Figueroa manages a last ditch tackle and Wigan clear. Adebayor is down and needs treatment on the pitch.
Modric takes the second goal and Adebayor heads at goal from 15 yards at the far post but Wigan clear and break up field and Van Aanholt crosses from 20 yards on the left towards Di Santo at the far post but he goes down and A-E clears.
Kaboul hits a long ball forward and Adebayor tries a shot from the edge of the box and Al Habsi pushes it out for a corner on the right.
GOAL - DIAME!!!! A-E's clearance in the box hits Stam who passes to Diame on the edge of the box and he creates a yard of space for himself around Kaboul before planting the ball into the bottom right corner. Game on!!!!
Bale makes a great run from the left to the edge of the box before crossing towards Adebayor but Figueroa intercepts and clears.
Wigan take the throw in and feed the ball to McCarthy midway in the Spurs half but he deliberates too long on the ball and Van der Vaart wins the ball before winning a free-kick off him.
Moses gets the to the left byline before crossing into the box but Kaboul clears for Wigan throw in ten yards on the left.
Piers says: "as a Tottenham fan my only concern is that we are gonna take our foot of the gas and just keep the 2 goal lead. Tottenham need to come out second half and send a message to the rest of the league that we can kill of lesser teams. what do you think?" I think the next goal is crucial.

Modric tries to release Adebayor into the right corner but the striker is just offside 25 yards out.
Caldwell and Van der Vaart go for a header in the middle of the pitch and the Dutchman needs treatment on the pitch for a head injury. He is now up on his feet and fine to carry on.
Adebayor releases Bale who runs into the left side of the box and he gets past Gohouri before shooting from a tight angle but Al Habsi is down well to his left to save.
Modric takes the corner and Bale again loses Figueroa in the box but this time he heads over from eight yards in front of goal. it was arguably an easier header and he could have easily have made it three.
Wigan take the throw in but Spurs win the ball and release Walker down the right and Van Aanholt has to put it out for a corner on the right.
Di Santo tries to latch onto a back pass from Kaboul but Friedel is quickly out of his box and puts the ball out for a throw in on the left.
GOAL - BALE!!!! Modric takes the corner and Bale runs to meet the ball, losing his marker Figueroa before placing a glancing header from eight yards across Al Habsi and in at the far post!!! That's my prediction over!!!

Bale runs down the left flank before crossing from ten yards out but Gohouri manages to get a touch on the ball and Wigan clear.
Mark Blackham says: "Shame about defoe missing we look better with 2 upfront but midfield looks strong 0 - 2 to spurs to continue our climb up the table." It's looking good for you so far Mark, but I still fancy by 1-1 prediction - Wigan will soak up the pressure and get the draw.

Parker releases Walker to the right byline and he pulls it back to Adebayor who shoots just over from 12 yards in the centre.
GOAL - VAN DER VAART!!!!! Adebayor latches onto a back bass from Figueroa 30 yards out on the right and runs to the left side of the box before crossing to Van der Vaart to the right of the box and he slots home from 15 yards with his left foot past Al Habsi!!!!

Team news - Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe has been ruled out after picking up a virus. Rafael van der Vaart has stepped in to replace Defoe with Sandro coming in for Niko Kranjcar in the only other change to the side that thumped Liverpool 4-0 last weekend. Latics boss Roberto Martinez has made two changes from the 3-1 loss at Everton, with Mohamed Diame and Steve Gohouri in for the injured Hugo Rodallega and Adrian Lopez.
