We are making you the envy of football managers everywhere by asking you to pick a team of the finest players ever to wear the England's famous Three Lions on their shirt.

We have put together a shortlist of World Cup heroes from down the years and want you to select your favourite XI in a 4-4-2- formation.

England have boasted some fine goalkeepers down the years, and picking one from our list of four is no easy task. Indeed, Peter Shilton, Gordon Banks, David Seaman and Ron Springett were all fine shot-stoppers in their prime - although perhaps Banks' World Cup winners' medal puts him ahead of the queue while of course he did pull off that save against Pele in 1970.

In defence, England have produced some truly fine players. From the bravery of the bloodied Terry Butcher to the composure and class of World Cup winning captain Bobby Moore, there is some incredible quality on offer. Even stoppers still in the current England squad - Rio Ferdinand and Ashley Cole - have made our selection of 16 defenders, such has been their World Cup displays to date.

England's midfield has oozed class over the years, with the likes of World Cup winner Bobby Charlton particularly catching the eye and surely pushing for a place in your starting XI. And what of the flair of Paul Gascoigne or the tenacity of the likes of Bryan Robson or box-to-box manner of the brilliant Alan Ball? Whittling the 16 down to four is no easy task.

The Three Lions' frontline down the years has oozed countless prolific goalscorers in all shapes and sizes. Indeed, whether it be the pace and precision of Michael Owen, the dribbling skills of Tom Finney or hat-trick hero Geoff Hurst. With just two places in the starting XI up for grabs, this is one mighty managerial headache.
