Real Madrid's 28-year-old goalkeeper has already tallied over 100 caps for his country, and looks set to add to that when he captains Spain during this summer's finals.
Casillas started nine of Spain's 10 qualifying matches in Group 5 conceding just five goals on the route to South Africa.
The impressive shot-stopper will represent Spain in his fifth senior international tournament, condemning Liverpool goalkeeper Jose Reina to the substitutes' bench.
Casillas, a keeper who boasts impressive reflexes with agile shot-stopping his main component, has a wealth of experience at club level also.
He became the youngest goalkeeper to play in a UEFA Champions League final at just 19-years-old.
In Casillas, Vicente Del Bosque has one of the best in the business, a player that has already enjoyed a fruitful career - lifting the Primera Liga title four times as well as successes in the Spanish Super Cup, European Supercup, Intercontinental Cup and Champions League (twice).
The 6ft 1in keeper has Spain and Real running through his veins - having penned a contract with his club for the rest of his playing career - and Spain boss Del Bosque will have no selection headaches when picking his No.1.
