Pak brings something of an unknown quantity to North Korea's squad after his surprise inclusion in the 23-man party.
He did not make a single appearance during the successful qualifying campaign but has done enough to force his way into coach Kim Jong-Hun's thoughts.
The midfielder, who plays his club football for Sobaeksu in his homeland, is expected to provide a back-up role for the Chollima.
Pak, who celebrated his 20th birthday shortly before the start of the tournament, will view the summer showpiece as the opportunity to gain greater experience.
With Brazil, Portugal and Ivory Coast awaiting North Korea, the youngster will witness some of the world's finest talents first hand.
