Influential captain Park has become a national icon since he was launched to superstardom at the 2002 World Cup, when South Korea reached the semi-finals.
Park made his international debut against Laos in 2000, and has continued to build his profile as a world-class player.
The unassuming 29-year-old midfielder scored the 70th minute winner against Portugal in 2002, which secured his side's spot in the knock-out stages.
Park made another valuable contribution with a crucial goal against France at the 2006 edition of the tournament, although South Korea failed to progress past the group stages.
He signed for Manchester United for £5million in 2005, the first Asian to play for the club, and has impressed fans with his notable work-rate and stamina.
Park, who has started in every World Cup qualifier for South Korea and scored the opening goal in their warm-up match against Japan, will be crucial to his nation's ambitions in South Africa this summer.
