One of the few men in the squad to play his club football in Paraguay, Gamarra will provide a threat off the bench after enjoying a strong Copa Libertadores campaign for Libertad as they reached the quarter-finals.
The 21-year-old is the youngest member of Paraguay's squad so don't expect him to play too prominent a role in South Africa with plenty of other attacking players at the disposal of coach Gerardo Martino.
However, the diminutive forward can be a tricky customer and will certainly be looking to boost his case for a regular spot if he gets the opportunity after failing to feature in any of the qualifiers for this summer's tournament.
Gamarra has played all his club football for Libertad so any chance to shine in South Africa will certainly give scouts from around the world the chance to see what he can offer as his career progresses in the future.
