Etuhu is well known to British fans after beginning his career at Manchester City and then making over 100 appearances for Preston.
He then played for a year for Norwich and then Sunderland before making the move to Fulham, with whom he started in this year's Europa League final.
But he only made his international debut in 2007 and it wasn't until the following year he played his first competitive match at the African Nations Cup.
Etuhu has amassed total transfer fees of around £4million in his career and his experience could prove vital in South Africa, although he is not a certain starter in Lars Lagerback first XI.
Etuhu's brother Kelvin currently plays for Manchester City but has yet to make his debut for his country.
