Shittu will be one of the most familiar names to British fans in the Nigeria squad.
The no-nonsense centre-half started his career at Charlton, before moving to QPR and from there Watford.
He was purchased by Premier League side Bolton for around £2million two seasons ago but has since fallen out of favour at the Reebok Stadium.
Despite that, though, he has retained his place in Lars Lagerback's squad for the World Cup although after months of top-level inactivity, he may have to settle for a place on the bench in South Africa.
He starred at the African Nations Cup and if intensive training sessions pay off, he may force his way into the starting XI.
