Played just one game in the qualifiers, but Rios was one of the few Uruguayan-based players to make the squad for South Africa.
The 27-year-old has four caps for his country, which included an appearance in November 2007 during the World Cup clash with Chile.
Rios began his career with Paysandu before joining Bella Vista and Penarol. He then moved to Mexico in 2007 with Monterrey, before spells with Danubio and San Luis.
His last move saw him rejoin Penarol earlier this year and his performances for them did enough to convince Oscar Tabarez that he should be called up.
Rios will more than likely be starting from the bench when it comes to the opening game.
