The most-capped player in New Zealand's history, Vicelich has been a rock at the heart of the All Whites' defence for the last 15 years.
He made his All Whites debut in 1995 and overtook Vaughan Coveny's then record of 64 caps in the second leg of the crucial pay-off second leg against Bahrain.
He had retired from international football in 2008 but was soon back when asked to be part of 2009's Confederations Cup squad, and continued to make himself available throughout the qualifying campaign for the World Cup.
Vicelich is a tall and composed centre-back who can also play in midfield though he will have to hold off the challenge of young pretender Winston Reid if he is to add to his cap tally in South Africa.
The 33-year-old currently plays for Auckland City in New Zealand, but enjoyed eight seasons of top-level Dutch football with Roda JC and RKC Waalwijk between 2000 and 2008.
