Low: Accepts Germany were second best
Joachim Low says his Germany side were never able to hit their stride after being stifled by Spain in the World Cup semi-final.
Germany's style of play has impressed many this summer following emphatic wins over Australia, England and Argentina.
However, without the suspended Thomas Muller on Wednesday, Germany's chances were few and far between, with in-form Miroslav Klose distinctly quiet.
Midfield trio of Xabi Alonso, Andres Iniesta and Xavi nullified Germany's threat and Low has acknowledged they have been Europe's finest in recent years.
Low had a plan to break down Spain but concedes their best efforts were not enough as Vicente Del Bosque's side outshot his to claim a fully-deserved 1-0 victory.
"In the last two or three years (Spain) have been one of the best and most united teams," explained Low.
"They circulate the ball well and we couldn't play the way we like to play.
"We had great plans but it didn't work out. (Spain) have won all the big games in the last year.
"It's a good team that has played together now for two or three years.
"I am sure the Spanish can win any game because they are dominant and it's hard to contain their attack."

Spain can make any good team look really average, the way they keep the ball is frightening. It makes me laugh how they can put Torres, Fabregas and David Silva on the bench! If they were english they would probably be the first 3 names on my team sheet! I think Spain will be too good for Holland, also as much as it pains me to say it, Germany have been the best team to watch this tournament and i'll be hoping they put on another exciting display against Uruguay and take 3rd place. England take note, the Europeans are taking over......

Why players and couches think the whole game depend one player I will never understand... surely there is 11 players that makes up a team and not just one? the secret is to play as a team and to respect each other on the field and to remain calm ... even after the the Spanish goal the German team remained calm .... not something I can say about my other two teams Portugal and Brazil ..... Germany was good but the better team won .. now we will wait for Sunday as Spain is up against another good team who also remains calm, play as a team and respect each other ... may the best team win ... Ole !!
