Robben: Very optimistic
Dutch winger Arjen Robben insists he is 'almost sure' he will take part in the World Cup after his first physiotherapy session.
The Bayern Munich star was a doubt for the finals after he was forced off late-on in Saturday's 6-1 thrashing of Hungary with a small tear in his left hamstring.
But the Dutch ace has started an intensive programme in Holland with Dick van Toorn and he is very confident he can recover in time to feature in the tournament.
Speaking after his first session with Van Toorn, Robben told Sky Sports News: "Yes I am happy - I have one chance and I have to go for it.
"I had four hours treatment this morning and again this afternoon. I'm going every day. The treatment started at 7.30am. I have to train a lot outside the treatment, especially power training to get the muscles supple.
"We start the treatment here, I don't know if the treatment will take three days or a week.
"It's difficult to say how fast it will progress but we will do everything we can.
"I'm very confident and I'm almost sure I will go to South Africa."
He added: "It was tedious exercises. But we will do everything to get fit. I'm very hopeful. Now we will see how fast we can make progress. In 2008, Van Toorn me got me back to action very quickly."
Robben was also grateful to Dutch coach Bert van Marwijk, who has not called up a replacement, saying: "I am very happy it gives me time to recover."
As for the player's chances of making the first Group E game against Denmark on 14th June, Van Toorn told radio programme Time For Two: "With some luck, I think it should be possible."
