Nick Faldo is set to compete in his fourth Open Championship at Turnberry in July after his name appeared amongst the initial entry list.
The three-time Open champion missed the event last year for the first time since qualifying as an amateur in 1975, in order to study possible team members for the Ryder Cup taking place later in the year.
However, the 51-year-old will return for his 33rd Open appearance at Turnberry - the 96th time he will tee it up in a major championship.
Faldo, who turned down a Masters invitation in April because of television commitments, first played at Turnberry in 1977 when he finished 62nd as Tom Watson beat Jack Nicklaus in the 'duel in the sun'.
The Englishman returned in 1986 to finish fifth and then recorded an eighth-place finish in 1994 after closing with a round of 65.
Watson and 1986 champion Greg Norman have also entered but the last Turnberry champion - Nick Price - is not expected to play.
