How about Chris Woods, our local Bristol boy? Leading amateur in the field -5 over having birdied the last for even par on the day and well under the cut - good prospect for the weekend eh?.

Heard a wonderful live comment on talksport yesterday. Mickey Quinn describing his hat trick at Arsenal some years ago. 'The first was a beaut, I lobbed Seaman from 50 yards' - at which point Adrian says - 'You should have been in the movies.

Dave, does the 10 shot rule apply when making the cut ? i.e. everyone within 10 shots of the leader makes the cut. If so then 116 will play the weekend if things stay as they are.

Would you agree Dave that for a player with one of the best swings in the game, Adam Scott's putting leaves a lot to be desired. He had to be handed victory in the Shell Houston Open earlier in the year as he left almost every putt short over the last 18 holes. This week is no different, the ball is trickling up the hole in most cases. Once he gets that department of his game sorted (and its a confidence thing), expect him to lift a major. Sadly, it wont be this week.

I know the cut is the first 70 + ties, but can someone tell me whether the 10 shot rule applies at the open i.e. anyone within 10 shots of the second round leader makes the cut regardless of position. I seem to remember this is the case at some majors but am not sure if it applies at the Open?

just got back from portugal 28c and sunny every day. Why not play the open there next year and make all the players and spectators-and probably commentators happier

Thanks for the updates - I need some help. I'm off work for the day with my 6yr old. I would like nothing more than to watch every minute of the golf but how do I get across the historical importance of the Claret Jug & steer him away from the Ninja Turtles? All ideas welcome!
