Leader Roberto Castro managed just six holes of his third round at the Sanderson Farms Championship before the weather again brought an early end to play on Sunday.
The overnight leader had gone in to the third round holding a four-shot lead, but has now seen his lead cut to one after bogeying two of his first six holes before play was suspended due to bad light.
After tapping in for pars on his opening two holes, Castro two-putted from 15 feet to bogey the third before dropping another at the next having missed the green off the tee.
Castro, who fired a course record 62 to set the pace in the opening round, will now have to play 30 holes on Monday after torrential rain wiped out most of Friday and Saturday's action, with play resuming at 7am local time (1pm UK time).
"I just hit two poor shots and paid for both of them," Castro said, as he goes in search of his first PGA Tour title in more than 100 events.
DJ Trahan and Michael Thompson both lurk one shot off the lead, with Tyler Aldridge one of seven players a further stroke back after playing his opening 15 holes in five under.
A second round 64 from Patrick Rodgers pushed the 23-year-old in contention, with the American also on 11 under after an up-and-down start to his third round.
"I was a little up and down today. I wasn't my best," Rodgers said after mixing an eagle and birdie with two bogeys during his first seven holes. . "But I feel good with the way I'm striking it."
