Butch Harmon, who coached Dustin Johnson and Jimmy Walker to major glory in 2016, is delighted to see Tiger Woods back in action this week

Butch Harmon is delighted to see Tiger Woods back in action and "swinging beautifully" at the Hero World Challenge.

Woods has understandably dominated the headlines in the Bahamas as he plays his first competitive tournament since undergoing back surgery last year, and he silenced many who doubted his ability to be a factor at the highest level with a flawless 65 in the second round.

Harmon coached Woods to his first eight major titles and 31 PGA Tour victories before they parted company in 2004, and he has welcomed the return of the record-breaking former world No 1.

Butch, who combines his coaching commitments with regular stints in the Sky Sports commentary box, said: "Tiger has been very impressive. He made 12 birdies over the first two rounds, and he double-bogeyed 16 and 18 on the first day. If he pars those two, he's right in the middle of this tournament.

"I think the most impressive thing about him has been his golf swing, and how under control it is. He seems to be swinging with beautiful rhythm and balance, and that's fantastic to see.

"It's a perfect stage for Tiger to come back, and on a golf course he knows well, it's fairly wide-open and that allows him to free-wheel a lot. He's played so well, particularly on day two. You really couldn't fault any of it, and I've been pleasantly surprised with how well he's played."

Harmon has enjoyed another successful year having guided two of his players, Dustin Johnson and Jimmy Walker, to their maiden major titles at the US Open and PGA Championship respectively.

"To see Dustin finally get his major, and then to see Jimmy get his, they were both fantastic and I was so happy for both of them," he added.
