A delighted Rose admitted that Westwood missed plenty of opportunities in their 18-hole final.
He said: "Lee again played solidly today. Where the putts went in yesterday for him, they burned the edge today and when he'll look back at the round there were a lot of chances for him.
"But it got tight at the end. He did what he had to do; he put the pressure on me all the way. He made a great four at 16 where I thought his ball was actually wet with the second shot.
"And then obviously at the 18th he kept the pressure going."
As for what he might do with the $1.5m winner's cheque, Rose laughed: "What's my wife going to do with it, let's put it that way.
"It's a lot of money, we're very fortunate. I'm spoilt for choice."
Westwood shouldn't feel to deflated either. His second prize was a cheque for $1m.
