Nordqvist could only add a level-par 72 to her opening 66 but that was enough to stay one shot clear of the field.
Scoring conditions were much tougher on Friday, with some tricky pin positions, and despite three bogeys cancelling out her three birdies, she was generally happy with her day's work.
"There were some tough pins out there," said Nordqvist. "A lot of them were on ridges, and I felt like I hit a lot of good shots and kept spinning off the ridges. Not much you can do. Felt like I hit it solid.
"A little disappointed to finish with a bogey on the last. Overall been hitting it great this week. Today I felt like all things were good. Just couldn't get any putts to drop."
The best rounds of the day came from Paraguay's Julieta Granada and Azahara Munoz of Spain, who are in a share of second place with Germany's Sandra Gal after shooting four-under 68.
Stacy Lewis and Michelle Wie head the American challenge on four-under par and world No 1 Inbee Park is in a strong group of players on two-under that also includes No 2 Suzann Pettersen and No 4-ranked Lydia Ko.
