Sky Sports viewers have voted Shane Lowry's tournament-clinching approach to the 18th at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational as the European Tour Shot of the Year.

The Irishman had a one-shot lead to protect as he headed to the tough 18th at Firestone Country Club, but he made his task more difficult when he pulled his drive into the trees to the left of the fairway.

With no clear line into the green, many players would have opted to pitch back to the short grass and take a six out of the equation, but Lowry opted to take the bold approach after a long deliberation with his caddie.

From 140 yards to a front-left pin, Lowry made a great connection to clear the first group of trees, and his ball clipped the overhanging branches of another pine just short of the green before landing and settling just 12 feet from the cup.

Lowry then wrapped up his first World Golf Championship victory in style as he drained the birdie putt, and the shot that set it up was the firm favourite with the viewers' votes over the last week.
