Jon Rahm and Billy Hurley share the lead at the halfway stage of Quicken Loans National at Congressional Country Club.

Rahm, playing his first event since turning professional after the US Open, looked set to lead by a shot but bogeyed the 18th hole to drop into a tie with Hurley, his playing partner for the first two rounds.

The 21-year-old Spaniard was the low amateur at Oakmont last weekend and started his professional career with a round of 64 on Thursday.

His form continued into the second round, with four more birdies on his front nine as he stormed into a clear lead on 11 under.

But Rahm dropped a shot at the 10th and again found the nearest competition coming from his own group as Hurley enjoyed a second straight good day.

Hurley went out in three-under 33, and added a birdie at the 10th, before joining Rahm in the lead when he picked up another shot at the 14th.

Both players moved to 11 under with birdies at the long 16th and Rahm edged back into the lead with a three at the 17th, but he failed to get up and down from the fringe on the last to give that stroke straight back.
