Vote for your all-time top shot in Open history at Royal Birkdale

Harrington nails the winning putt and became the first Irishman to win The Open for 60 years

There have been a number of memorable moments at Royal Birkdale through Open history, but what has been the best shot at the course through the years?

The Southport-based layout hosts golf's oldest major for a 10th time this week, with Henrik Stenson back to defend his Claret Jug and Tommy Fleetwood getting the chance to play in his home town.

The tournament was first hosted at the venue in 1954 and most recently in 2008, when Padraig Harrington defeated Ian Poulter to claim a third major success.

Arnold Palmer fired a brilliant recovery from the bushes during his final round in 1961 to claim a one-shot win in 1961, while Seve Ballesteros played an outrageous chip-and-run between a couple of bunkers to grab a share of second in 1976.

Justin Rose holed out at the last in 1998 to secure the Silver Medal and end his amateur career on a high, while Harrington's stunning shot in to the 17th on 2008 meant he had the Claret Jug all-but sewn up as he headed up the last.
