The 2009 Open Championship winner is a little like the Miguel Angel Jimenez of Team USA: well-liked by the public and his fellow players, respected for his game and well thought of for his behind-the-scenes qualities. There is something else they both share: a bit of a dodgy record when it comes to actually acquiring points. This will be his fifth Ryder Cup and in his previous four appearances he has won four matches, halved another four and lost seven. On the other hand, much like Zach Johnson, he was one of the more determined Americans in the losing team of 2006. When many of his more celebrated team-mates struggled in Ireland, Cink lost just once when playing in every series of matches. Admittedly he only won one match but that saw him produce some wonderful golf to hammer Sergio Garcia in the singles and dent the Spaniard's otherwise superb Ryder Cup record.
