Robert Karlsson

Sweden

Player details
Name Robert Karlsson
DOB September 03, 1969
Nationality Swedish
Birthplace Katrineholm, Sweden
Height 6ft 5
Weight 199lbs
The imposing Swede made his Ryder Cup debut at the K Club in 2006 and contributed two halves as he teamed up with Paul Casey in fourball action on both the Friday and Saturday. He was handed the daunting task of taking on world number one Tiger Woods in the singles and came off second best as the American recorded a 3&2 victory, but it mattered not as Europe recorded an emphatic triumph. Following his efforts in Dublin, Karlsson's Ryder Cup win record stands at 0.33. He has additional match play experience having featured three times for Continental Europe in the Seve Trophy (2000, 2002 and 2007) ending on the winning side in 2000 and taking seven points from his 14 matches in the event. The 38-year-old has enjoyed a wonderfully consistent 2008 and claimed an automatic place on Nick Faldo's side with something to spare having managed a total of nine top-10s. Three of those came at the first three majors of the year as he finished eighth at The Masters, fourth at the US Open and seventh at the Open Championship.
