Local favourite Kenny Perry enjoyed a dream day as he closed out a convincing 3 and 2 win over Swede Henrik Stenson.
Cheered on by his home fans in Kentucky, Perry produced an inspired putting display to overcome Stenson who, despite battling bravely, had no answer to his opponent's superb scoring.
Stenson needed an opening birdie to stay on terms, but fell three behind as Perry rolled home exquisite putts at the second, third and fifth.
Stenson did claw a hole back with a birdie of his own at the sixth, but having found trouble off the tee and then water at the seventh gave it straight back.
When Perry went out of bounds at the tenth the Swede was back to two down, but again the American responded in style as he put his tee-shot to a matter of inches at the short 11th.
The duo then exchanged holes at 12, 13, 14 and 15, but Perry tapped home from close range at the 15th to ensure a half and a 3 and 2 triumph.
