Ryder Cup rivals Justin Rose and Oliver Wilson have been paired together for the first two rounds of this week's KLM Open in Holland.

European Tour stats package

Englishmen Rose and Wilson stand eighth and ninth in the European points race as both men look to secure a debut in the biennial match against the Americans.

Rose's inability to secure his place in the side has seen him alter his schedule, with the world number 12 returning from America where he was due to play in The Barclays, (the first leg of the lucrative FedEx Cup play-offs), to compete in Holland.

Rose is still hoping he might already have done enough to earn a spot on Nick Faldo's team, but concedes the uncertainty is far from ideal.

"It's a frustrating situation," he admitted. "I don't know whether I have done enough yet to get into the team - I hope so, but I might not have.

"I might not need to make one more Euro, but by coming here it's in my hands.

"It's certainly a situation where I would not feel comfortable sitting in the States. But I am still in a very comfortable situation - the other three are really sweating over it."

Last season's European Order of Merit winner is £45,555 ahead of Wilson, who in turn is £2,395 ahead of Dane Soren Hansen in the 10th and last automatic spot.

However, the closest gap is currently between Hansen and German Martin Kaymer in 11th, who is a mere £213 behind the Dane as he also goes in search of a Ryder Cup debut.

Also in Holland this week are Ross Fisher, defending KLM Open champion, and Nick Dougherty, fresh from his encouraging showing at last week's Scandinavian Masters.

The duo are 13th and 14th in the standings and both need big weeks if they are to force themselves into contention ahead of next week's Johnnie Walker Championship, the final counting event.
