MC10------------------
The young Northern Irishman buckled spectacularly when appearing to have one arm in the Green Jacket at Augusta National last month as he saw a four-shot third round lead evaporate on the back nine. Much has been written about his demise but the bottom line is that the 22-year-old has now finished in the top 15 in five of his last eight majors; contending on the biggest stage is not a problem. Winning is another thing of course but he has time on his side and should be a staple at major championships for years to come. His big hitting, towering irons and sharp short game suggest he has all the weapons to contend on a big and demanding venue like Congressional and it's worth remembering that he kicked off his US Open career with a top 10 at Bethpage Black two years ago. Perhaps a charge from the pack represents his best chance of victory - something he did in spectacular style when coming from the cut line to land last year's Quail Hollow Championship with a spectacular 66-62 weekend finish.
