Two wins - Wachovia and the AT&T National - in top-class fields in 2008 thrust Kim to the front of the betting for the season-opening Mercedes Championship in Hawaii and he kept the good times rolling with a tied second place. But since then it's been something of a struggle. A shoulder injury forced him to withdraw from the Bob Hope Classic and a 'flu-ridden Kim then had to pull out of Bay Hill. A missed cut in Phoenix and a last 32 exit in the Accenture Match Play added to his misery while a couple of starts on the European Tour produced modest results too - 33rd in the Malaysian Open and 25th at the Johnnie Walker Classic in Perth. However, it would be folly to rule him out as Kim is no ordinary golfer. He finished in a tie for second on his PGA Tour debut at the 2006 Valero Texas Open and made an immediate impact on his first appearance at the Open Championship when finishing tied seventh at Royal Birkdale last year. A tied 26th in Houston last week suggests he may be turning a corner and although winning on debut at Augusta hasn't been done since 1979 Kim has the game to make a genuine title bid.
