Tipped by many as the man to challenge Tiger Woods' domination of the game, the 28-year-old has gone backwards in recent times and now resides outside the world's top 20 having been as high as number three. The Australian is looking to get his career back on track after an ultimately disappointing 2008 that he himself described as a 'bump in the road'. After encouraging early wins in Qatar and Texas last year, Scott was dogged by injury and illness with recurring tonsillitis and a freak knee injury, sustained while surfing, undermining his efforts on the golf course. A second-place finish at the Sony Open at the start of this year hinted at a re-emergence, but inconsistency has continued to blight the Australian who has struggled for form since. Supremely gifted with an effortless swing, Scott has proved he can win big with a Players' Championship (2004) and a Tour Championship (2006) on his CV - although both came some time ago now during the high point of his career to date between 2004-06. A tie for third at the USPGA, also in 2006, remains his best Major finish, but he does not boast a great track record at The Masters. A ninth on his debut in 2002 is the best he has produced at Augusta, while last year he ended up joint 25th. When on song there are few more effective or more enjoyable to watch - but sadly for Scott fans that remains infuriatingly rare at present.
