The 34-year-old from Worksop has achieved almost everything in the game with one notable exception - he has no major championship to his name. Which for a player who has won 29 times worldwide is a surprise. What's more he has rarely challenged in the big ones, with a fourth place in the 2004 Open his best performance and just four other career top 10s. His record at Augusta is particularly poor, with three missed cuts and just one top-25 in seven visits; his sixth place in 1999. Westood's annus mirabilis was in 2000 when he won seven times and ended Colin Montgomerie's seven-year run as European number one. He had not won for four years before rdiscovering his form last year, taking the Andalucian Open and British Masters titles. He also finished the season with five straight top fives and after three top fives from six European events this year he is back in the world's top 20. Westwood has saved much of his best golf for the Ryder Cup and has not missed a session since his debut in 1997. He has been unbeaten in the last two matches, both times as Europe's leading points-scorer and has the second best scoring rate of any European in the event.
