The 32-year-old from Iowa shocked the world when he won the Masters last year - plenty of pundits had suggested he was too short off the tee to tame the monster that Augusta has become in recent years. But he won by not attempting to reach any of the par fives in two (he played them in 11-under), trusting to his short irons and making three birdies in the final six holes as his rivals wilted. All three of his tour victories to date have come in Georgia. He won the Bellsouth Classic in 2004 and last season claimed the AT&T the week before his Green Jacket win. Finished 2007 with a career-high near-$4million thanks to two wins and five top 10s. But 2008 has seen a dip in form and he only has one top 10 so far - at the CA Championships - and his only other top 20 is a 20th place in the season-opener in Hawaii. Omens are hardly good for defending champions. Only Jack Nicklaus (1966), Nick Faldo (1990) and Tiger Woods (2002) have retained the Green Jacket.
