The 41-year-old from Wisconsin resurected his career in 2006 playing on sponsors' exemptions, after losing his PGA Tour card the year before and went on to enjoy a breakthrough year in 2007, climbing to third in the world. He won his first PGA title in 1996 at the Kemper Open and won again that season at the Western Open, but had to wait another five years for his second title. That was the WGC World Match Play although his achievement was dampened somewhat by the fact that most of the world's top players declined to travel to Australia for the event. There could be no doubting the scale of his achievements in 2006-7, however. He won the Barclays against a world class field, was runner-up to Tiger Woods in the inaugural FedEX Cup - banking a $3million bonus - and had nine top 10 finishes from 23 starts. That achievement earned him the accolade of Comeback Player of the Year from his fellow pros for the second consecutive year. He has also impressed in 2008, winning nearly $1.4million and standing ninth on the Money List although he has yet to win. Stricker's Augusta record is ordinary. He did not play between 2003 and 2006 and missed the cut on his return last year. Best finish is 10th in 2001.
