Tiger Woods insists he is still in position to win the Masters and claim the first leg of a legendary Grand Slam.
The world number one toiled to a 71 on Friday and only an incredible scramble from the 10th fairway for a par at 18 kept him within seven shots of leader Trevor Immelman.
He has won at Augusta from six shots back at halfway before and is still confident he can go one better on the weekend.
"I'm in good shape," said the world number one. "I'm seven back but I need to play well, obviously we got some tougher conditions coming in, and stay patient.
"This golf course, you can make up shots here quickly. Just got to hang in there."
Woods' putter has been cold over the first two days at Augusta - he has made just one eagle and three birdies in 36 holes.
"Obviously I've got to make a few more birdies and eliminate the mistakes, hit the ball a little bit closer than I have," he added. "You've just got to stay patient.
"I mean, this golf course, anything can happen. You can come back pretty quickly here.
"You've just got to keep being patient and keep hanging in there."
Woods, who has won nine of his last 11 tournaments, will play alongside Argentinian star Andres Romero on Saturday.
