Phil Mickelson is already excited about the prospect of competing at next month's Masters and feels his game is currently "as good as it's been".
The American tees it up in this week's WGC-CA Championship, but revealed he spent the week prior to that event in Miami by putting in some extra practice at Augusta.
'Lefty' already has two Green Jackets in his collection but is now desperate to add to his victories in 2004 and 2005.
The American reportedly played 27 holes at the home of The Masters on Tuesday and subsequently acknowledged that the prospect playing the season's first major already had him "excited".
"There's just one or two courses in the world that I get excited to play, whether it's in a tournament or not, and Augusta is one," Mickelson stated.
"I was giddy the night before. I was out putting in the dark."
The 38-year-old already has a win under his belt this season having prevailed at the Northern Trust Open last month.
Having rather indifferent performances in his first three outings of the year led many to question whether his game was in the sort of condition to challenge for the sport's biggest prizes.
However, following some intensive practice with coach Butch Harmon, Mickelson is highly encouraged by his form.
"Today, I feel it (his golf game) as good as it's been," he added. "It certainly wasn't there at the start of the year, but we've built up.
"I spent time in Tucson (Accenture Match Play Championship) with Butch, spent the last week working on it."
