Grand Slam for Tiger?

Major venues could have been chosen with him in mind

Tiger Woods' eight-stroke victory in the Buick Invitational confirmed what many experts have been saying for months - the world number one is in the form of his life.

He won his last two tournaments of 2007 - plus the unofficial Tiger Challenge - and simply blew away a world class field at Torrey Pines.

Bereavement and the distractions of new fatherhood seem to be behind him, he is swinging better than ever and he remains the best clutch putter on the planet.

But perhaps most importantly of all, this year's four major venues suit him down to the ground.

The US Open returns to Torrey Pines, while Augusta, Birkdale and Oakland Hills could almost have been chosen with Tiger in mind.

The great man himself has refused to rule out winning all four and you can bet he has more than half an eye on making history.

So is this the year when Tiger Woods wins the fabled Grand Slam? Let us know your thoughts...

I think that this cat is the only guy who could pull this off, and if he is to, this year is the year. With his papa dying last year I think that this will spur him on even further. He'll cruise to victory at Augusta. It was just a matter of time before he did, and now is the moment!

Tiger winning the Grand Slam is my best bet although I might not have full confidence that he will win it this year. If he does not, it will become even harder as up-and-coming younger golfers are relentlessly pursuing their dreams of dethroning the King "Tiger, go for it this year and stop the doubts and arguments once and for all"

Mal Smith says...

I doubt it will ever happen. Tiger is the greatest player ever. but I don't think even the great man is capable of pulling off what is probably the toughest challenge in mainstream sport.

Michael Scofield says...

I believe that this will be the year for Tiger to truly break out and capture the coveted grand slam of golf. He is the only player capable of such a feat. Hey, pretty much the only player ever (controversial I know) that could pull it off. The stress placed on his young shoulders is huge but if properly propegated then there is no telling what this great man can do.

Luke Moon says...

Tiger is going to do the grand slam there is no player who can match his game. People say he's in his prime, well even when he's not going to be in his prime he's going to be by far the best player in the world.

Tony Sweeney says...

If anyone can it is Tiger, he is unbelieveable and the only thing that will beat him is himself. But being a new father with help control his game.

Would love to see the main man do it!! Great ambassador for the sport!! And as said above, he's the only man fit for the job!!

Tiger is a living legend. Although a grand slam would be extremely difficult for most people Tiger is a remarkable golfer and human being. He will be favorite for each major and i would certainly not bet against Tiger lifting the Wannamaker trophy, the claret jug and the us open trophy along with wearing the green jacket.

Ierfaa C says...

I really hope he does it. It's never been done before. He's done the Tigerslam and it would be great if he could do it in my lifetime. I rooted for Federer to do it in tennis but it looks now like he will never do it. I however think Novak Djokavic can do it. Hope it happens in my lifetime.

It would be great to see Tiger do it although if it rains at Augusta he won't

Graeme Wilson says...

Winning all 4 in one year is something only he can do. But so many factor's come into it, especially if the weather is bad at The Open. I'd like to see him do it, but don't think he can. Saying that though he'll probably win every one he plays in 2008.
