Hatton: no decision

As far as carrying on fighting, I'm going to go away with my family, get my head in a nicer place and make a very, very important decision.

Ricky Hatton says he has still not decided whether he will retire from boxing or not after his shocking knockout defeat against Manny Pacquiao.

Hatton failed for the second time to beat the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world after his only other previous defeat against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Many have called for Hatton to now hang up his gloves having failed to reach the very pinnacle of the sport - but with a glorious career in the bag.

Hatton has still not decided whether to retire or try to come back from what he calls an 'embarrassing' defeat against Pacquiao, saying he is not yet in the right frame of mind to make the big decision.

Holiday

"I'm just going to have a holiday with my family then I'll make the decision," said Hatton. "I've been very down needless to say.

"It was very embarrassing but it's not exactly doom and gloom.

"When my mind's in a little bit better form and certainly a bit clearer then I'll make a decision.

"No-one planned that result but this is boxing. I'm still not in the right frame of mind to make a big decision like that just yet."

Hatton has already said that he will move into promoting when he does eventually retire.

Rumours

There are still some slight rumblings of further action in the ring for Hatton, with the likes of big-punching former lightweight Michael Katsidis or even Amir Khan being mentioned.

However, Hatton seems intent on moving into promoting and it seems that he would find it extremely hard to get back into training for any further fights.

"After being a champion yourself the next best thing to replace being a champion would be to give back some of the happiness I got from the sport," he added.

"I think it's clear what my intentions are in promoting - to try to be the best.

"As far as carrying on fighting, I'm going to go away with my family, get my head in a nicer place and make a very, very important decision."
