Paul Webber is set to continue to mix hurdling and chasing with Alasi after she narrowly failed to defend her title in the Listed Mares' Hurdle at Wetherby on Saturday.
Alasi was beaten by Nicky Henderson's Une Artiste, winner of the Fred Winter at the Cheltenham Festival last season, but Webber feels the two-mile trip is on the short side for his eight-year-old these days.
Webber will step her up to three miles for her next start at Kempton in the OLBG.com Mares' Hurdle later this month.
"Two miles is too short for her really," said Webber.
"She has to be held up like she was, but the winner just had a better turn of foot.
"Nicky's horse was rated 2lb higher by the handicapper and he got it spot on.
"She'll go for a Listed three-mile hurdle at Kempton on November 26 next.
"She will mix hurdles and fences like last year but there's no suitable chase for her within the next month, so we'll stay hurdling and when there's no suitable hurdle she'll go back over fences."
