The cold front which arrived in the early hours of Friday morning quickly claimed Saturday's Taunton card and the champion trainer was forced to give his powerful team a rare day off.
Writing in his exclusive column at www.betfair.com/paulnicholls he said: "For only the second time in 21 years here, we weren't able to work the horses this morning.
"We have had a lot of snow here and conditions are dreadful, but at least we managed to plan ahead with the forecast.
"So we worked the horses hard yesterday - suspecting that they may had to have a day in their boxes today - so today is like a lazy Sunday for them."
