The former was having his first start since winning a Warwick maiden hurdle in early December on debut for the Oxfordshire handler and held on by half a length from Lord Wishes in the Albert Bartlett Scottish Trial.
Longsdon is now considering a tilt at the race of the same name at next month's big meeting, telling his website www.charlielongsdonracing.com: "Superior Quality was mightily impressive in his win. He travelled very easily throughout the race and Noel (Fehily) said he almost got to the front too easily.
"To be honest, I did not think he would win, but knew he had a good each-way chance, so now we have to think seriously about where we go with him and Cheltenham will definitely be discussed."
Longsdon was out of luck with his other runners on the card with Constant Contact finishing second in the John Smith's Scottish County Hurdle and Tidal Way fourth in the John Smith's Scottish Triumph Hurdle Trial but the latter could still be in line for a trip to Cheltenham.
"Tidal Way also ran very well. He could not win at the weights, but Noel thought he possibly ran his best race to date, giving 8lbs to the second and third and the Fred Winter will be a possible target," added Longsdon.
