McCririck complained of feeling unwell during the first day of the Festival on Tuesday and was taken to Cheltenham General Hospital by ambulance.
The veteran pundit was subsequently detained for further observation but has now been released, although he will not be at the track for the final day of the meeting as he had hoped.
"He's fine, he's resting but he won't be racing today," said a spokeswoman for McCririck.
In January Channel 4 dropped McCririck from its racing coverage when it unveiled its new presenting team, headed by Clare Balding.
McCririck announced he was to sue the broadcaster for £3million, claiming it axed him from its racing coverage because he was too old.
It is hoped McCririck will be at Doncaster for Lincoln Handicap day, the first big race of the new Flat season.
McCririck's agent Patsy Martin said today: "He is not going racing today and the next race meeting he will be attending will be Doncaster on Saturday week."
